Message from the President
President and Representative Director
HONEY COFFEE CO., LTD.
A new start for the next generation: Striving to create new value for ingredients
In 1949, Nakajima Food Industries, HONEY COFFEE’s predecessor, was founded. In 1976, HONEY COFFEE CO., LTD. was established. In July 2016, the company marked its 40th year of operating under that name and relocated to Shiga Prefecture. We’re relaunching HONEY COFFEE in this new location.
We’ve always specialized in manufacturing and selling coffee extracts, but recently we’ve taken advantage of the relocation to significantly expand our equipment and facilities so that we can deepen our coffee extract R&D and strengthen our manufacturing and sales.
At the same time, we’ve begun R&D, manufacturing, and sales of aromas and extracts not only of coffee, but also of black tea, green tea, citrus fruits, herbs, spices, flowers, and other ingredients on a large scale. We also established our Lab to help small and medium-size manufacturers and boutiques develop products that align with their vision more quickly. The facility lets us pursue joint development to create ingredients that meet customers’ needs, and we look forward to providing ingredients that satisfy customers going forward.
We’ll also work actively to recycle coffee beans after the extraction process as a way to contribute to society. We’ve used such waste as a soil conditioner in the past, and we look forward to pursuing R&D into fertilizer or soil conditioner use in rice paddies and crop fields.
We’ll continue to pursue a range of R&D at our Lake Biwa Factory and then demonstrate and commercialize our findings. We look forward to continuing to create ingredient value for the next generation by supplying HONEY COFFEE products to the domestic and international markets.
We’ll work to develop global markets.
I’m responsible for sales development at HONEY COFFEE. My personal approach has been to undertake new and unique challenges, rather than doing the same thing as other people. Whenever I’ve met with customers, I’ve always asked myself, “Can we create coffee ingredients that other companies can’t?” Our new Lab will help us realize this goal. Here, I hope we’ll be able to develop not only coffee, but also new ingredients like black tea and Japanese tea together with customers and discover the answers for customers’ original development projects. Of course, I also look forward to working to develop new ingredients and expand our sales channels. We’re currently involved in discussions with companies in Taiwan, Australia, and other countries, and I look forward to developing a variety of new ingredients and communicating their appeal to the world.
Ensuring safety and security so we can put smiles on customers’ faces
I’m responsible for developing our FSSC 22000 production control and food safety system. In designing our new factory, our goal was to create a safe, secure facility while incorporating the perspective of FSSC 22000 rules and production systems.
I love the expression, “Happiness starts with a smile.” I strive to be able to smile no matter how trying the situation. That’s because I want HONEY COFFEE’s products to put smiles on customers’ faces and help create happy relationships.
We take safety and security seriously and want to inspire customers’ peace of mind. Our goal is to give customers a sense of satisfaction and joy by taking full advantage of our Lab to accommodate their wishes through services that other companies can’t match. That’s because I want to put a smile on every customer’s face. I look forward to fulfilling my responsibilities day in and day out to create those smiles.
Working to realize high-quality manufacturing of products from our R&D pipeline
I’m involved with manufacturing at our factory, including blending and filing coffee. Our Lake Biwa Factory features significantly higher production capacity than our previous facility thanks to its use of the latest equipment. In addition to being able to produce larger quantities, the new facility lets us develop a more varied slate of products, and it provides an environment that lets us embrace a variety of challenges. I look forward to rigorously managing work at the site so that we can commercialize products from our R&D pipeline efficiently, safely, and securely on the factory’s manufacturing lines. And I also look forward to further expanding the scope of my job to help spread HONEY COFFEE’s name in the domestic and international markets.
